Ah tumblr, I suppose I’m back to occasionally dump the waste of my mind onto your webpages. Might try & attempt to have more than 4 followers this time round, but probably not. Luckily, I find my posts grand.
The only black-out I know is the one when I wake up the next morning wondering what I did last night while exclaiming to the nearest friend, “Holy shit, I was wasted.”
You want to talk about the internet being blacked out? Oh ok, hey big companies who want to make the money they deserve. Fair enough, but to take down all social networking sites in order to protect the illegal download of your music and pictures and then their posting on a personal social network page makes you look pathetic.
You not only have the money but the resources (i.e. manpower, technology, lawyers) to write your own security scripts like plenty of other web-pages out there, example any artist who displays their art online but blocks it from being taken, saved and printed by some stranger and resold. If you’ve ever tried to steal a picture from a site like the a fore mentioned, well you can’t.
Also many colleges, including my own Queen’s University, blocks downloading media files for example downloading form’s like media fire and various torrenting sites. This blocks off a large population. Work with internet companies, write computer scripts that protect your files. My generation is not as dependent, however, younger generations are built on social networking. Also, as a student, engines like google aid me as a student studying both art and psych. I love books so I’d adapt back to print research and not complain. For some though, their futures will be highly impacted as well as this is not just stunting but causes the majority of future advancements in technology to recede. Don’t be ignorant and lazy. You can protect your intellectual property without shutting down huge facets of todays society. In fact, things like Facebook, by removing such a network from the internet is removing the art or intellectual property of someone else. Isn’t that what your fighting against for yourselves? Aren’t you theorectically asking artists to forfeit their art forms in order to protect yours? Let’s recall also, Obama gained thousands of votes by campaigning via facebook. These types of internet services are being used by every person from so many different walks of life and socioeconomic status’s using these sites for multiple reasons. Shutting this down practically shuts down yourself.
